Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back! It has been an incredibly difficult time for our nation as we have dealt with the restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The CHS administration, faculty and staff are excited to welcome your child back to in-person learning on our campus. We look forward to supporting your child in our classrooms each day.
We will be putting safety protocols in place to keep all members of our school community safe. I am sharing a link to the protocols that the school district has developed in conjunction with the Philadelphia Health Department for you to review.

There are links to the consent form for your child to be Covid-19 rapid tested here at Central High School, if they display symptoms of Covid-19 while they are on campus. This is a voluntary testing program and will need to be approved by you. Please select one of the below options to complete the form if you want your child to participate.
Parents/guardians can follow this link and complete and sign the form which will then go to the CHS nursing department automatically (this option requires signing in to DocHub by creating a free account or by signing in using a google account).
Parents/guardians can follow this link to complete the form, then download and print it with your signature (or use your own digital signature if available). Once signed, it can either be brought in physically or scanned and sent to the CHS nursing department via email @ email@example.com.
We will be making some school level changes to support our safety initiatives. Until further notice, advisory in the morning will be closed, unless your child is participating in an approved peer mentoring support program. This means students will be required to remain in their advisory classroom for the entire 53 minute period. We will make changes to this policy when it is safe for our school community to move more freely throughout the building.
This school year, students will have an advisory period on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each week. On Wednesday mornings, teachers will be participating in “Common Planning Time” from 8:00 am – 8:53 am. Students will be expected to arrive by 8:53 am and report directly to their first period class. We will take roll during first period on Wednesday. Every other day of the week, students will be expected to be in their advisory classroom by 8:00 am.
Weather permitting: All students will be allowed to eat outside in the grassy areas behind our building between A-B wings, B-C wings and on the lawn adjacent to the parking lot. We are working with the Associated Alumni of Central High School, CHS Home and School Association and School District of Philadelphia to order new outdoor seating for our students. Students can bring a small blanket if they would like to sit and enjoy our campus while we await the arrival of the new seating. We will monitor these areas with support staff and cameras during all lunch periods. CHS administration will meet with students on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 during advisory to explain this change and review safety expectations regarding outdoor lunch.
“CHS Back to School Night” will be held virtually out of an abundance of caution. It will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. I will be sharing more information regarding links to every teacher as we get closer to the date. Please participate and meet with all of your child’s teachers.
The rostering process for the new school year is still being finalized. Unofficial rosters are available to students in the SIS portal. They may change up until August 31, 2021 as we continue to level class sizes.
